Solid cabinet boxes rarely need replacing. What dates a kitchen is the color, the sheen and the hardware. Refinishing gets you a completely different room for a fraction of what new cabinetry costs, and it takes days instead of months.
The catch is that cabinets are the least forgiving surface in the house. They get touched constantly, they see grease and water, and every flaw sits at eye level. That is why we degrease, sand, prime with a bonding primer and spray the finish instead of brushing it.
This is a finish carpentry level process, not a paint job with a roller and a prayer.
Every door, drawer front and piece of hardware is removed and labeled so it goes back exactly where it came from.
Kitchen cabinets carry years of cooking oil. We clean with a degreaser until the surface is genuinely ready, because primer will not stick to grease.
All surfaces are scuff sanded to break the existing sheen. Dents, chips and open grain are filled and sanded smooth.
A specialty bonding primer matched to your cabinet material, whether that is oak, maple, thermofoil, laminate or previously painted wood.
Multiple thin coats of cabinet grade enamel applied with an HVLP sprayer, sanded lightly between coats for a glass smooth result.
Hardware reinstalled, doors rehung and hinges adjusted so every door closes evenly and every reveal lines up.
A sprayed enamel lays down flat and level. Brushed cabinets carry visible stroke marks that catch light forever, especially in a dark color.
Cabinet enamels need real cure time to reach full hardness. We tell you exactly when you can load the shelves again instead of pretending it is instant.
Deep navy, forest green, warm greige and soft white islands are where Front Range kitchens are going. We will brush out samples on a spare door first.
We build a containment zone with plastic sheeting and run air filtration so overspray and dust stay in the work area. Your counters, appliances and floors are fully covered.
Most kitchens are back in normal use within three to five working days, with doors returning at the end. We stage the work so you keep access to your sink, fridge and range for as much of the project as possible.

Cabinet refinishing is generally priced by the number of doors, drawer fronts and linear feet of face frame and boxes, plus the condition of the existing finish. It typically runs a small fraction of the cost of new cabinetry. Your written estimate counts the actual pieces in your kitchen.
A standard kitchen usually takes three to five working days on site, with doors and drawer fronts returning at the end. Larger kitchens with islands and pantries can run a little longer.
Yes. Oak has a deep open grain, so if you want a completely smooth look we fill the grain and sand it back before priming. If you prefer to keep some grain texture, we can do that too. We will show you both on a sample door.
Usually yes, with the correct bonding primer and careful prep. Thermofoil that is already peeling from the substrate is the one case where refacing or replacement is the honest recommendation, and we will tell you if that is what we find.
Not when the prep is done right. Failure on cabinets is almost always a degreasing or priming shortcut, not a paint quality issue. We use cabinet grade enamels that cure to a hard, washable surface.
Not necessarily, though new pulls and hinges are an inexpensive way to complete the change. If you are switching from knobs to pulls we can fill and redrill the fronts as part of the job.
You can use the kitchen throughout most of the project. Once doors are reinstalled the finish is dry to the touch, but cabinet enamels keep hardening for two to three weeks. We give you specific guidance on when to load shelves and when to stop using felt pads.
Boxes and face frames are sprayed in place inside a sealed containment area with air filtration. Doors and drawer fronts are sprayed in a controlled environment for the cleanest possible finish.
Walls, ceilings, trim and doors finished with crisp lines and a flawless, even sheen.
